Why We’re Nut-Free (And Why That Matters)

🥜 So, What Counts as a Common Allergen in Beard Care?
Many beard oils and balms use ingredients like:
- Argan oil
- Sweet almond oil
- Macadamia oil
- Hazelnut oil
- Brazil nut oil
- Shea butter (yes it comes from a nut too)
They’re everywhere. Shea butter especially, it’s in almost everything. And while it's often tolerated, it's still derived from a tree nut, which is enough reason for some people to avoid it altogether.
Our take? If you’re making a product for skin, and especially for broken, irritated, or allergy-prone skin, you shouldn’t roll the dice on common allergens.
⚠️ The "Miracle" Ingredient We Deliberately Skip: Jojoba Oil
You’ll also see jojoba oil hyped as a “miracle” ingredient in beard products.
But here’s the truth: jojoba isn’t really an oil at all. It’s a liquid wax ester, and while it helps with surface softness and shine, it doesn’t penetrate deeply or nourish like true carrier oils do. It sits on top of the skin more than it sinks in, and we prefer ingredients that actually get to work underneath.

We use a nut-free, allergen-friendly blend of high-performance oils and butters that deliver the same (or better) results without the risk:
- Kiwi Seed Oil (NZ) – packed with omega-3s, anti-inflammatory
