What is the difference between Rooted's beard oil, butter, and balm?

Beard Oil is for daily lightweight hydration of beard and skin. Beard Butter is for deep conditioning and nourishment, best used a few times a week. Beard Balm provides light hold for styling and protection. All are 100% nut-free.

Why are Rooted.nz products better for sensitive skin?

Our formulas are specifically designed for sensitive skin. They are 100% nut-free, contain no synthetic fragrances, and are packed with anti-inflammatory ingredients like Kawakawa and Manuka infusions to calm and restore irritated skin.

Why don't you use common industry oils like Argan, Almond, or Jojoba?

Our formulas are 100% nut-free for safety and to eliminate common allergens found in Almond and Argan oil. Beyond that, we choose ingredients for superior performance, not trends. We specifically use Olive Squalane because it is a more effective, biomimetic moisturiser than Jojoba. Its molecular structure is closer to skin's own sebum, allowing it to absorb faster with a lighter, non-greasy feel.

Are your products vegan?

Our Beard Oil and Beard Butter are 100% vegan. Our Beard Balm contains New Zealand beeswax, so it is not vegan. All our products are cruelty-free.

Where are Rooted.nz products made?

All our products are handcrafted in small batches in Aotearoa New Zealand. We prioritise using local and organic NZ-grown ingredients wherever possible.

Rooted wasn’t born in a boardroom. It started with a personal frustration: trying to find high-performance natural beard oils and other beard care products in New Zealand that wasn't loaded with artificial fragrances, trendy filler oils, or most importantly nut-derived ingredients that irritated sensitive skin.

The choices were either over-hyped international brands that felt disconnected from nature, or local products that didn’t deliver the results they promised. We knew there had to be a better way, grounded in the potent botanicals of Aotearoa and backed by real science.

So, we created it ourselves.

This beard oil is a really good quality product, there are lots of oils out there that don't keep my face moisturised. This is one of the best in that aspect, and both the scents smell really fucking good all day long. My beard is softer than its ever been, can't recommend this enough, I will be a regular customer!
